Waiting at Home

Hi friends. Hope you are all well. Good. Jesus loves you. I hope you enjoy this story.

I would like to speak to some of you wives out there who might have found themselves in this place at some time in your lives. This was written in 1982.

Waiting and wanting and ready to shout. Looking at the clock and ready to pop. The meeting - it should have been over by now. Where is that man of mine? I am getting ready to scream. To scream. Is that a car I hear? Surely the meeting is over by now.

A wife and two kids are waiting at home but they mean nothing to that man. Chatting and drinking coffee is he. Never giving a thought of his home. After ten o'clock it is now. One of his children is laying asleep - unaware of his father who couldn't care less. Don't tell me of the meeting that had stopped hours ago - just keep chatting and drinking your coffee. Don't care about us who's waiting at home.

Oh I could just scream. Our ten year old daughter listened to her mum as she read this out. Then I tear it up and put in in the bin feeling better. Getting it out of mind but the Lord spoke through our little girl for she said "mum, can I tape this up for you? You may want to use one day."

Hello! Ladies! For the record my husband came straight home after the meeting. They told me he was the only one that didn't stay for coffee. Hello! This had taught me always trust my husband. I pray this is a little eye opener to some of you. Trust your husbands and always let them know you are there for them. By the grace of God we are coming into 45 years of married life.

  1. Coffees! I never heard so much rot. After 45 years don't you think it is about time the old fellow fessed up and told you the meeting was at the pub!
